Derek DeYoung is an avid fly fisherman. Formerly a resident of Michigan, he now lives in Livingston, Mont. He enjous using a spey rod with an indicator rig to target steelhead in the fall, and in the spring prefers to throw big, elaborate streamers for grumpy, old brown trout. His passion for the sport of fly fishing, and the fish that he pursues, have always been the inspiration of his oil paintings. In Derek's paintings, he tries to bring to life the rich colors, beautiful patterns, and interesting textures that are found on these fish.
